Community & Safety Guidelines

The Community & Safety Guidelines apply to the GeneLink and DNA Relatives Matching services provided by Genesis Healthcare Co., and GeneLife in its mobile application.

While using your GeneLife account or any related Services, you may not:

  1. Post or share any content that is illegal, threatening, harmful, abusive or otherwise objectionable, including content or communications that are degrading, defamatory, vulgar, hateful, libelous, fraudulent, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, sexist, racist, or invasive of another's privacy.
  2. Stalk, harass, threaten or verbally attack any other user.
  3. Post any information or communication that you know is false or misleading, including impersonating any person, misrepresenting your affiliation with any person or entity (including GeneLife or Genesis Healthcare Co.), falsely claiming an endorsement that you do not have, or misrepresenting that you are an employee or representative of Genesis Healthcare Co. or its related companies.
  4. Post or share content containing any person’s personal, proprietary, or confidential information such as photos of living individuals, sensitive financial information, or a person’s address, phone number, or email address without their permission. In the case of minors (under the age of 18 years old), it is against our policies and strictly forbidden to share any information in any form, except you have formal written consent of their parent or guardian.
Spam is Not Allowed

You may not use your GeneLife account or the Services offered by Genesis Healthcare Co. (or any information obtained through the Services) to post or make available any advertising, promotional materials, junk mail, spam, chain letters, or any other form of solicitation

Disclaimer about GeneLink service

By engaging with the GeneLink communities and contents through likes, comments, or other forms of interaction, you acknowledge that such activity may be publicly visible to other members. Your participation is voluntary and subject to our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Genesis Healthcare Co. may collect and process interaction data to improve user experience, ensure community safety, and enforce its platform policies.

As part of the service, users may create, edit, and delete their own content at their discretion, in accordance with the features provided within the app.

Advertised services and content promoted within the GeneLink services are carefully reviewed for relevance and alignment with our platform values. However, Genesis Healthcare Co. cannot be held responsible for the accuracy of claims made by third-party advertisers or any outcomes resulting from their use. Participation in or use of such services is at the user’s own risk.

While using the GeneLink services, if you click on a link leading to content or a platform managed by a third party, you may be indirectly sharing your personal genetic traits with such third party, but not directly by Genesis Healthcare or GeneLife. Genesis Healthcare and GeneLife shall bear no responsibility and shall not be liable for any transactions, losses, or damages arising from such content or usage of platform. Users using such content or platform managed by third parties do so at their own risk, and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions and privacy policies set forth by the respective third-party content or platform providers.

If points or rewards (such as GeneLife Points) are offered in connection with participation, the applicable GeneLife Reward Program policy will apply.

Genesis Healthcare Co. reserves the right to moderate, remove, or report any content or behavior that violates applicable laws, our Community & Safety guidelines, or the rights of others.

There is an option to report abuse within the GeneLink service. Contents and communications should adhere to our Community & Safety Guidelines. If you see something that does not comply, please report it.

  1. Select the post or comment with abusive content and you wish to report.
  2. Click the link "Report Abuse".
  3. Select the reason and follow the on-screen directions.

Information about Messaging

There is an option to contact and message other participants. While an alert is sent, there is no obligation for the recipient to reply and it is at their sole discretion to revert at any given time.

GeneLife and Genesis Healthcare Co. will not intervene and/or provide any follow up communications to the recipient to reply.

It is also recommended to check when the reception connected to the GeneLife3.0 app as an indication of their recent login. Some participants may not connect regularly and it is their sole decision to reply or not.

Deleting a Chat With Other Participants

If you delete a chat:

  1. You will lose permanently the message history with the other participant
  2. The other participant will still be able to send you messages and contact you
  3. The other participant will not be notified the chat has been deleted
Blocking Other Participants

There is an option to block someone that messaged you. It is the sole decision of the participant to block or unblock any other participant.

GeneLife and Genesis Healthcare Co. will not intervene and/or provide any follow up communications.

If you block other participants:
  1. You will lose the message history with the blocked participant
  2. You will not be able to receive any message from the blocked participant any more
  3. Note the other participant will not be notified they have been blocked
Reporting Abuse

Contents and communications should adhere to our Community & Safety Guidelines. If you see something that does not comply, please report it.

  1. Select the name of the person who posted the abusive content and you wish to report.
  2. Click the link "Report Abuse".
  3. Select the reason and follow the on-screen directions.
About Opt-out:

If you decide to opt-out of the DNA Relatives Matching program:

  1. Your profile will not be visible to other participants any more
  2. You will lose all message history with other participants
  3. You will not be able to receive any message from other participants any more

If you decide to opt-in again after opting-out:

  1. Your profile will be visible to other participants
  2. Your past message history will not be available
  3. All your previously blocked participants will be unblocked

The Community Rules apply to all users of GeneLife’s and Genesis Healthcare Co's Services (including GeneLife's web site and GeneLife3.0 mobile app) and are intended to protect you and the entire GeneLife's user community.

The Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy of GeneLife and Genesis Healthcare Co. apply.

This list of prohibited conduct is not exhaustive. GeneLife and Genesis Healthcare Co. prohibit users of the Services from engaging in any activity that GeneLife and Genesis Healthcare Co., in its sole discretion, determines to be offensive, interferes with the rights of others, or causes harm to any person or entity.

GeneLife and Genesis Healthcare Co. cannot be responsible for the content our users create and share in the community, but we reserve the right to remove any posts or comments that violate these guidelines or our Terms and Conditions.

Serious or repeat violations or offenses will subject the responsible user to account termination, at GeneLife' and Genesis Healthcare Co.'s sole discretion.

Information about blocking or deleting a chat

Opt-out:

  1. You will lose message history with your relatives
  2. You will not receive any message from any of your relatives
  3. You will not be visible to your relatives

Opt-out and opt-in again:

  1. You will lose all your message history
  2. All your previously blocked relatives will be unblocked
